Sumburgh Head’s Big Opening Weekend ***POSTPONED***

***Coronavirus Update March 2020***

Sumburgh Head Lighthouse Visitor Centre was due to re-open from Saturday 4th April. We have postponed this opening in accordance with Government advice to minimise the spread of COVID-19. We are closely monitoring this situation and will re-open when it is safe to do so.

To mark the start of our 2020 season we are offering a great day out at Sumburgh Head! Come down to our Visitor Centre on Saturday 4th April to join in our opening celebrations and receive up to 25% discount on the entrance fee.

There will be guided tours, taking in the history of Sumburgh Head Lighthouse and its Keepers, including Retained Lightkeeper Brian Johnson, who will be joining us in the Engine Room, ready to start up the engines for a customary blast of the Sumburgh Foghorn to welcome in the new season.

As part of our opening day celebrations we will be running a competition, offering one lucky person the chance to help Brian sound the Sumburgh Foghorn. Three runners up can also start the engines and all four winners will receive a free season ticket to the Visitor Centre.

Watch this space and follow us on Facebook for details of all our opening celebrations, including family activities, promotions, refreshments and how to enter the Foghorn Competition.
