Sumburgh Head Open Day

10:00 - 17:00 Saturday 7th July

As part of this year's Shetland Nature Festival we are having an Open Day with lots of activities throughout the day. There will be guided walks to meet Sumburgh's seabirds and guided tours of our exhibition areas to discover the history of Shetland's oldest Stevenson Lighthouse and its Lightkeepers, Sumburgh Head during WW2 and even our magnificent marine world. We will also have lots of drop-in activities, including watching for whales and other marine creatures with Karen Hall from Scottish Natural Heritage, and Peerie Birder sessions for all aspiring ornithologists. And if you're feeling creative there will even be mural painting with local artists, Howard Towll and Dirk Robertson so there really will be something for everyone at the Sumburgh Head Open Day!

You can take part in any or all of the events listed below with a 2019 Sumburgh Head ticket and Shetland Nature Festival wristband, available on the day from our Gift Shop. Existing ticket holders can get their tickets stamped in our Gift Shop to receive a wristband for the day. A full listing of Shetland Nature Festival events can be found at: Shetland Nature Festival 2019 programme
