ORCA WATCH Shetland

ORCA WATCH Shetland is part of a national event to raise awareness about Orca and other marine life and to get more eyes on the water, spotting and reporting sightings.

Last year in Shetland during ORCA WATCH there were some incredible sightings, including Orca, Minke whale, Porpoise, Risso’s dolphins, Basking shark, a Bearded seal and even a Walrus! Let’s hope for more of the same this year!

During the week there will be a number of public watches, led by Karen Hall of Scottish Natural Heritage and a team of experienced and knowledgeable volunteers. These watches are taking place all over Shetland including several at here at Sumburgh Head.

Pop along to our Visitor Centre during ORCA WATCH Shetland and you’ll also find a series of display boards with information about the latest sightings and the pods seen around Shetland.
