Extreme Light North
Extreme Light North aims to make a series of performances across the arctic asking questions about what it is like to live in extreme light conditions, how light environments affect our mental health and who we think we are both as individuals and communities. It aims to explore what might be ‘A New North’ as the Arctic Ocean melts and an environment of so called ‘new economic opportunity’ emerges as a result of global warming.
Writer and director Clare Duffy, supported by Creative Scotland Artist Bursary is bringing together a fantastic team of artists from Shetland and the UK to make a site specific performance at Sumburgh Head Lighthouse. Clare was artist-in-residence at the lighthouse for 2 weeks in January 2016.
Clare Duffy is an award winning playwright who is is co-writing Extreme Light North Shetland with a cast of Shetland and non-Shetland actors, writers, musicians and storytellers.
